The New Greene County (MO) Seal

Alas, if only they really did, but the leaders of where my wife and I live have much in common with a group from long ago. For it is written: The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men.” [Isaiah 29:13 NIV]

So it goes with most politicians. I find myself leaning more towards the Anabaptist position lately of church/state distinction - but more in terms of the fact that I can only see evil in politics, and I'd prefer to separate the church that I love from government that I fear.

Well, we really don't have anything to really fear from any government. For they are all created and controlled by our Heavenly Father. Hence, what we should fear. For far too many in the Christian community never take that into consideration, and this is why we keep getting governments that rarely give its constituents any real consideration. Of course, since this world was never meant to last but for a little while in comparison to the whole of eternity, we will never see a really good "worldly" government, but knowing that all is going according to the plan that our Heavenly Father set into motion long before He created this world should make it easier to endure the hardships before it is time for us to go home.
