Brilliant!

Even thought it wouldn’t be such a bad idea, this is not about the brilliant Guinness ads.  For it actually about [entomology].

Oops, the very first line says, not to be confused with [etymology], the study of the history of words.  Therefore, since that is what this is really supposed to be about, I suppose that doesn’t make me all that brilliant.  (Ah, but it was funny—huh?)

Anyway, have you ever stopped to think about why something that is considered to be very smart is often referred to as being brilliant?

The [Online Etymology Dictionary] is not very helpful.  For all it has about brilliant is in reference to something sparkling or shiny, as in a diamond.

When I went to look up what it has for shiny, it referred to the word as being an extension of shine, along with talcum, tinsel, spar, rayon, porcelain and diaper.  I wonder if this database was created by a computer that has no idea what a particular means?

It got a little closer with shine.  Well, at least as a verb.  For as a noun, it had that shine is the polish given to a pair of boots.  Whereas, as a verb, shine is to be radiant.

Okay, now we are almost talking.  For it equates radiant with beauty.

Isn’t there a common denominator to all of these words?  Is it not light, and who is the Light of this world?  For it is written: Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. [John 8:12 KJV]

Come on now, do I really have to connect the dots for you?  For to call someone brilliant is to consider them to be very, very smart, and ALL knowledge and understanding comes from…?

No, that couldn’t be right.  For our Heavenly Father does not want to have anything to do with those who do not want to have anything to do with Him—right?  Well, at least that is what I was taught, and it is plain to see that I was not the only one.

Yet, one of the very first things that I was shown after our Heavenly Father started making Himself real to me was that He had been with me my entire life—even during the times when no one could be farther from Him in their heart.  In fact, it was while I was offering my services to the devil when He filled my heart full of hope, and then opened my eyes to start seeing what is really going on in this world.

Alas, is it not true that our Heavenly Father is only hidden from those who do not want to recognize Him?  For even common expressions testify to His presence in and around us, but of what value is this to those who do not want to believe it?

No, this is not to suggest that all will eventually be saved from eternal damnation because of our Heavenly Father having His hand on us all.  For the one thing that is required is for each and every one (who reaches their own age of accountability) to actually want to be one of His children by faith, which certainly includes truly accepting His only begotten Son, who truly is the Lord Jesus Christ, as being their own personal Lord and Savior, and it is pure wickedness to refuse to see what He wants us to.

So, how many in the Christian community truly are His?  Again, but of what value is this to those who do not want to believe it?

Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Lavender!!! Well, I am certainly not tough enough to drink Guinness. For the stuff tastes like coal tar to me.

As in regards to Oz Guinness, I first ran across some of his published works soon after our Heavenly Father started making Himself real to me, and at first, I went along with what so many in the Christian community were saying about him. It wasn't long before I was shown differently, however. What is coming to mind is that he sought to bring our Heavenly Father too much down to our level, but I'm not sure.
