89 Confirmed Fatalities So Far

It has been reported that there are now 89 confirmed fatalities from the tornado that tore through the southern part of [Joplin, MO] yesterday evening.  My wife and I live in Springfield, which is in middle of the lower part of the map above, and Joplin lies around 60 miles to the west southwest of here.

The link for Joplin, MO above contains a newspaper article from the Springfield News-Leader, along with some photographs of the devastation.  Below is a video.  Please keep in mind that what is shown on the video was actually a very developed area, with lots of houses and businesses—not out in the middle of nowhere, like it appears to be now.

Thanks for stopping by, my dear Sandie!!! I haven't received any personal revelations about the weather being all that different these days, but it my very well be that I just haven't been paying close enough attention again. There are now 116 confirmed fataliities, and I don't know if that is counting the two policemen, who were struck by lightning while searching for survivors yesterday.

Thanks for the compliment about the appearance here. It is still not quite what I want, but it will have to do for now.
