Sipping Some Tea

After going back and forth with my dear friend, Blane, who is a fervent follower of [Glenn Beck], it was suggested that I should spend some time actually listening to what Mr. Beck has to say instead of relying so much upon sound-bites from here and there.  Much to my surprise, I heard a lot that sounded right.

My ears really perked-up from 10:00 to 16:47 on the video above.  For he started talking about God being behind what is now happening in this country.  So, why do I still have such an uneasy felling about him?  You can watch the entire show [here].

Fortunately (for me), I have no good friends who associate/identify with the Tea Party - so I don't have to have discussions with them.

Nor do I watch Glenn Beck or even give him any sort of credibility. I tried watching this clip, but had to stop as I quickly reached by Beck quota for the day.

On the other hand, a pat on the back to you for keeping Blaine as a good friend.

Glad to see you at least are giving him a fair shake, most react in the same manner as fangle did. Does not fit into their pre-fabbed dogmatic liberal views of what they want to be true, so it is avoided at all costs. He once dedicated a whole show (his entire hour) on how to be saved (at the peak of his ratings which dwarf any other two or three similiar news commentaries combined). Never done on any prime time news network or cable news network before or sense, probably never to be done again. As he was doing the show, Obama's (un)spiritual advisor, rev j. wallace, was leading an effort to spread a lie telling everyone that Glenn hated Christians and hated Jesus. He (Glenn) said while doing the show that he didn't know what the end result of the show would be, but that if he lost his entire audience(as many told him he would) he did not care. All done simply and w/o any Mormon ideas or precepts. A great Christian brother of ours this man is. from:Blane

So, why do you still have such an uneasy feeling about him? I have typically found it to be true that when I have an uneasy feeling about someone that is unfounded, it is usually based on one of two things. Either ignorance, not having enough information about them, or pre concieved ideas based on rumor and hearsay. If you don't know why you feel a certain way about someone, yet you agree or know to be true what you hear them say, you then have to find the source of the uneasyness. So, ask yourself do you have enough info to make sound judgement on their character? In this case I would say you do, he is an open book and makes no secret as to what he believes, you have heard him yourself. This being true ask yourself now about any preconcieved ideas you may have had and what the sources where for those ideas. I know you did because I read them. Knowing what you know now are those old ideas valid for you anylonger? Shed the dead weight and move on brother.Blane

Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Blane!!! The source of my uneasiness comes from what I am hearing from our Heavenly Father. For He tells me that Mr. Beck is just pandering to what remains of the Moral Majority/Religious Right. There is also what Mr. Beck said about politicians asking what James Madison would do instead of what Jesus would. For if someone truly knew Him, as opposed to just knowing of Him, why would they not want to know what He would like for them to do? Of course, it may very well be that I am listening to the wrong voice.

Blane,
I applaud your efforts at doing something that is out of my reach - that is seeking unbiased views of the news.

Beck lost me when I found out he was a Mormon. I dated a Mormon once and they frighten me.

Thanks for stopping by, my dear L.D.!!! Be assured that our Heavenly Father can speak through even an devout atheist when it serves His purposes. Nonetheless, one of the things that bothers me about Mr. Beck is that he is basically reading transcripts from Rush Limbaugh shows in the early 90's. Now, his presentations may not be word-for-word, but the message is almost exactly the same.
